In the live show Urban Mosaic the musicians of Utrecht Jazz Archipel combine jazz, poetry and visuals to take you on a thematic trip through the city. Confronting both the bright sides and the shadow parts of city life, they touch on subjects like cultural exchange, homelessnes, celebration and polution.
During the development of the show each musician was paired with a writer or poet and assigned one of the twelve themes. I create visuals for each composition that reflected both the text and the rythm of the composition. Throughout the show a slow sunrise and sunset mark the passing of a full day in the city.
